ABOUT
ABOUT ME
in June 2011 I graduated from a Bachelor of Education (Middle/Seecondary)/Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree at Flinders University.
In early 2012 I was appointed at Mark Oliphant College, Munno Para West, South Australia. Since then I have worked as a Middle and Senior Years English/Humanities & Social Sciences and Physical Education Teacher.
Since 2013 I have worked primarily in the Middle Years, teaching years 8 and 9 English/HASS classes. I have had a strong influence in creating the curriculum documentation for the College, writing curriculum iBooks for year 9 Humanities and Social Science subjects, as well as a reading and wtiting warm up programs for Year 8 and 9 English subjects.
I constantly seek to encourage my students to reach high standards and be the best they can be. I am regularly updating my materials and methods through research, reading and professional development. Like my students, I am constantly learning, challenging myself and seeking to improve my skill-base by any means possible.
WHERE TO NEXT?
My journey with Explicit Instruction has involved Professional Development seminars, coaching sessions and class modelling with John Fleming (Director of the Haileybury Institute and Deputy Principal of Haileybury. Member of the Teacher Education Ministerial Advisory Group).
In addition, in Term 3 2015 I visited Haileybury, Victoria to further my understanding of Explciit Instruction. Through this experience, I have been able to implement and coach other staff at MOC to further embed the philosophy amongst our teachers and students.
I hope to continue my learning and Professional Development opportunities to be the best educator I can possibly be. I am enthusiastic about the learning of my students, as well as the learning and development of colleagues.
